We are so happy to present this amazing singer/songwriter, Darka to our Listening Room. Darka visited our Open Mic in December and the room immediately fell silent to her amazing vocal style. Her originals will be welcomed in this unique setting as will the covers she so skillfully makes her own.

About the Event
Since writing her first original song at 12 and performing it in front of her middle school audience, Darka was hooked. Her songs reflect the complexities and the adventures of life – the good, the bad and the sometimes ugly. Her endearing lyrical vocal style quickly draws people in, with velvety low tones and power-charged melodies. Her musical influences are vast, drawing from greats such as Sarah McLachlan, Stevie Nicks, Heart, and so many more.
Darka offers a mix of eclectic covers and ethereal originals on her keyboard and, most recently, her cool electric ukulele.

A teacher of 20+ years, she retired early and just recently started seriously pursuing her love of writing and performing (It’s never too late!). She currently plays around Durham Region in her duo, Tin Roof, with her colleague, Randy Yurko. When she’s not running around fixing things, she’s usually hanging out at her home studio, or deep in the woods with her four-legged best friend, Scout.
